Elina Nostrant is an established professional educator and the owner of Baltimore Piano Academy with over 30 years of teaching experience.

She was fortunate to study with the best teachers – talented and renowned musicians, among whom was her mother, a gifted, and highly inspired musician, with a Master’s degree in Performance and Pedagogy in Piano, a successful Director of a Music School for Children, Professor Gregory Khachaturov, a brilliant pianist, and others.

She started her music education at age five by going to the Music School for Children, where she studied piano, music theory, music history, ensemble, and chorus according to the Classical Style of music education.

After graduating from the Music School for Children and a Music College par excellence she was accepted to a prestigious State Conservatory in Baku, USSR where she earned a Master of Music, sum cum laude, in Piano Performance and Pedagogy.

Upon completing her formal education, she continued to perform and at the same time obtained a position as an accompanist at the GITIS in Moscow, USSR working on Opera Productions.

After moving to the United States she was still performing and also started to work as a piano teacher and an accompanist at the D’Angelo School of Music of Mercyhurst College, Neighborhood Art House where she was the Coordinator of the Music Department and founded as well as her very own Classical School of Music in Erie, Pennsylvania.

She is fiercely dedicated to her students and is honored to report that the majority of them regularly participated in the recitals, and auditions, and are first-prize winners of competitions.

Throughout the years she has been a member of various professional organizations including MTNA(Music Teachers National Association) and MSMTA(Maryland State Music Teachers Association) as well as MTAGB(Music Teachers Association of Great Baltimore)American College of Musicians USA(National Guild of Piano Teachers), Pennsylvania Music Teacher Association, Erie Music Teacher Association to maintain her musical education and keep up to date with the latest research.

She also served as a judge for the different piano events.

Overview

The Baltimore Piano Academy provides the highest quality of private piano instruction to its students. The goal of BPA is not only to teach their students to play piano but through the skills of piano playing to recognize beauty, to be kind, intelligent, spiritually rich, and to be a better human being and fill our society with culture, morals of the highest caliber, inspiration, and love.

BPA bases the teaching process strictly on individual needs. Every student is being provided with a different type and/or style of instruction according to their age, character, interests, and knowledge base. Musical preferences are incorporated into lessons because students are more likely to practice the music that truly inspires them.

BPA gives a solid foundation in piano technique and musicianship so that students are empowered to explore any kind of music. Igniting the imagination of students, and providing them with the tools to realize their highest potential is the basis of our teaching process which is different for each student because we are all unique.
